Born in Slough on 2nd January 1949.
Qualified as a chartered architect in 1980, and became a partner in H. J. Stribling & Partners in the same year.
Early training under direction of Diocesan Surveyor for Buckinghamshire, gaining experience with repair, maintenance and alteration of churches. These have included including Eton College Chapel and twelve local churches, some dating from the 11th Century.
